Creating a home workspace that inspires

I’ve been working from home now for 8 years. In the early days, I started working from our dining room table. It wasn’t long before I realised that wasn’t a long term solution (if you’ve ever sat on a hard wooden chair for longer than 30 minutes, you’ll know that it soon gets incredibly uncomfortable!). At that time we had no children so we decided to turn our spare room into an office space. I loved it – a light bright room, relaxing pale green walls and white furniture including a lovely bespoke glass desk. It was so bright and airy. Then boom! Lessons and tips for working from home

I’ve been working from home now for 8 years and it’s been a learning curve. There’s no doubt that working from home can be a great way to balance work and life but it can also bring some challenges. I definitely don’t miss the commute, trundling along the motorway at a depressingly slow 20 miles an hour. And I do love the flexibility that working from home brings with it. But I have learnt that successful working from home takes dedication, discipline and some serious focus. If you have ideas of getting up late, working in your pyjamas and taking 4 hour lunch breaks, then the likelihood is that you’re not going to get much work done.
